By our small family

We personally plant, transplant, water, and harvest every little seed and plant.

Without pesticides
or herbicides

Our hydroponic setup reduces the possibility of pests and diseases like E. coli and salmonella.

In a 320 square foot
freight farm

Our controlled environment grows 365 days a year—about 6,000 plants every 8 weeks.

Using about 5 gallons
of water per day

That’s only 35 gallons per week. Other irrigation methods can use over 54,000 gallons per week!

Vertically with
hydroponics

That means the roots are suspended in water and infused with nutrients.

Without soil erosion
or air pollution

Our freight farm is eco-friendly and sustainable all the way around.

Living Lettuce

The healthiest, most delicious greens you’ve never had—yet.

Living lettuce is harvested with the small, clean root ball still attached. Waiting to cut off the roots until just before eating the lettuce has many benefits:

Maximizes moisture and nutrients

We’re talking major sources of fiber, Vitamin C, Thiamin, B-6, riboflavin, niacin, A, E, and folate.

Improves the leaves’ flavor and crunchiness

You won’t go back to chopped lettuce in a bag from the grocery store anymore.

Stays fresh in the fridge for 3-4 weeks

But your taste buds probably won’t let you leave the lettuce in the fridge that long!

What We Grow

We grow several types of premium greens.

Though they vary in taste and leaf style and range from sweet to savory, all are nutrient dense and delicious.

Our Story

Our Story

Two small town kids locally grown in northern Utah.

We are James and Jessica Walker. Because of our rural upbringing, we have a respect and love for the land, plants, and animals that has been instilled in us and that we hope to help grow for future generations.

We both graduated from college and worked a variety of jobs with the goal to just always meet our needs, but we always felt like we wanted something more—something of our own that would make our little corner of the world a better place.

That desire led us to a wonderful opportunity with Freight Farms. This was an opportunity for us to blend Jessica’s love of plants and greenhouses with James’ love of farming into one amazing venture.

We started Home Grown Greens with three kids under the age of five and a baby on the way! They keep us busy but are also our biggest driving factor to succeed.

Thank you for supporting Home Grown Greens!
